PTO adapters enable you to increase or reduce shaft length or change spline configurations so that implements fit properly on your tractor’s PTO. Meanwhile, over-running couplers (free-wheel clutches) add an important layer of protection: they transmit drive from tractor to implement, but when the implement’s inertia pushes it past the PTO speed — such as during shutdown of a rotary mower or baler — they “free wheel,” preventing the implement from driving the tractor or putting harmful back-force through the transmission.
Because modifying PTO length or configuration can affect safety, always verify fitment carefully and ensure guards (shields) are properly extended when using adapters — especially when shaft length is increased.

NOTE: The over-running coupler is an essential part of PTO drive on rotary mowers, bailers, hay conditioners or any implement where inertia of driven unit may be required to over-run driving source. The coupler drives solidly from tractor to implement and free wheels smoothly when implement exceeds tractor PTO speeds. All dimensions are nominal.
IMPORTANT: Use of PTO adapters may extend PTO shaft’s length and require additional guarding to prevent serious injuries.
